The Zelda cartoon came out the year I was born...so I actually just stumbled on the DVD in a pawn shop for $4...of course I picked it up!
After watching how ridiculous it was, I decided to try my hand at that version of Zelda for Halloween/a local anime convention this year.
It's still a heavy work in progress..but I figured I'd better come here for critique before I get TOO much further along, or before it gets too close to October. :)

My mom and I were just goofing around last night as I was seeing how what all I'd finished this week had turned out.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to catch many screen shots online, and almost every picture I see of this Zelda contradicts another in some ways...

For once I'm glad 80's style is in...I picked up those earrings for really cheap!
After looking at the crown finished, the details are all a little bigger than I'd like..but, I guess it makes it more cartoon-like.

The boots I've found for a reasonable price are a little shorter and darker than I'd like...I'm thinking about trying to find something to add to the top of them so they actually come up my thighs like in the show. I figured with the darker boots (they look black in the pictures, but they are actually brown), I can at least wing things a bit and keep the shades of everything else a bit darker. This is my first cosplay...so, I'll fine tune things and worry more about accuracy once I'm more comfortable with making my own costumes!
The vest I hand stitched (hate machines...) myself this week. I'm actually pretty happy with the outcome.

And...the bow, which isn't 100% done. (I started it yesterday)

I plan on poofing my hair out all 80s style and copying her makeup as well.

I've also started on the leather pouch for her belt, and I plan on filling it with some accessories from the first game...since that's the one it's related to. (and it makes it more fun for me!)
I was just thinking things like pieces of heart, the blue and red potions, some orange and blue rupees, and a map of Hyule from the first game (which I printed out today and messed around with to NOT look like a print out from a computer...). Zelda doesn't need all of Link's accessories, but she should at least be able to take care of her self when she goes off wandering...after all, she IS the capable princess!

Like I said...it's still all a work in progress. I'm open to all critiques and suggestions, and I'll post more over here when things get done. :)

Not bad for a first cosplay, especially since you hand stiched. Know what you mean by contradicting pics lol. Just pick one you like best or seems to have the most things in common, and you should be fine. The accesories idea is pretty good. I've seen it done before at an anime con and it attracted crowds.

Thank you! No, I'm not. I've only vaguely heard of it before, and this is my first venture into cosplay :)

I love you so much. Seriously. People your age generally don't like the TV series. :D

I also love that you've decided to carry small accessories. Props like that seriously MAKE a Zelda costume, I think.

Hahaha, thanks!
To me, the series was like Grease 2...it was so corny, it was awesome. (but then again, shows aimed at kids have always been ridiculously corny when you go back and watch them as an adult)
At first I was just like "oh man, Link is such a complete jerk"...once I got over that though, I enjoyed it.
